The eastern facade of the church stands out for its beauty, because it is the main entrance - the gate. Inside, the walls are reinforced with pilasters that are interconnected by semicircular arches above which the dome rises.
The church has an impressive iconostasis, which was built during in the time of abbot Stephen in 1864. The wooden structure itself was made by the master Dojčin Zulfa, while the decoration was done by his son Dobre.
The icons in the iconostasis are the work of the famous painter Dičo Zograf in the period 1848-1865 who signed 19 of the 29 icons.
The frescoes in the altar area are the work of the greatest painter of the XIX century in Macedonia, Dičo Zograf, who finished it in 1852. The frescoes in the nave and on the dome were made thirty years after the one on the altar. There is no information about him who is the author, but still based on comparative analysis, with great certainty, the son of Dičo Zograf, Avram Dichov is pointed out.
The frescoes were significantly damaged due to the moisture that entered from the roof, so in 1988 and 1989 conservation interventions were performed on the damaged frescoes.

It is believed that a church was built on this site in 1316 and burned down after the arrival of the Ottomans. In 1558 a new church was built which was also burned in 1824 and 1843. Today's church dedicated to The Most Pure Mother of God was built in 1846-48 by abbot Theodosius.
The monastery of The Most Pure Mother of God and the monastery of St. George in the village of Knežino, were centers of the spread of Christian thought in this part of Macedonia.
The Macedonian revolutionary Gjorce Petrov from his visit to this monastery, in addition to the folklore about its naming, wrote that there were records of history that were in large numbers in the monastery, but as the monastery elders said, they suddenly with the whole monastery library handwritten books were burned in an oven full of hell malice and fanaticism by Greek Metropolitan Meletius of Debar in 1844/45.
