htmlText_EA4225AC_D9CF_A8A3_41CA_C9DA51D8DF2F.html = Arranged in the upper registers of the church decoration is the cycles dedicated to the life and deeds of Christ supplemented with the mini-cycle of the Slaughter in Bethlehem. Below the Festal cycle, the Christ’s Passion and His public ministry has been illustrated. Here the Church calendar is painted and in the second zone is presented the Akathistos hymn of the Virgin.
In the central dome is a representation of Jesus Christ Pantocrator, who is blessing with a gospel in his hand. Below his representation, are painted angels of Christ’s heavenly guard, and below them are the Old Testament prophets. On the pendentives the portraits of the evangelists have been represented.
On the western fasade in the lunette above the entrance to the church is painted St. Demetrius in military uniform riding a horse receiving a blessing from Jesus Christ.
On the southern facade, above the entrance to the church King Volkašin and king Marko with “the horn of the Old Testament Kings” are painted after the battle of Kosovo around 1389.
According to its architectural characteristics, the church in Marko’s monastery has a cross-in-square ground plan with five-sided apse and a rectangular narthex on its western side. The church has a central dome and a blind calotte above the narthex.
In the narthex are depicted the biographies of St. Dimitrija and St. Nicholas, and in the dome above the narthex is painted a representation of Christ the Logos blessing the heavenly table.
On the north wall of the narthex is painted the founding composition inventively incorporated in the iconographic packaging of the Heavenly Palace.
The commissioners’ inscription written in fresco technique above the southern entrance says:
This pious temple of the holy great martyr Christ the Conqueror and Miracle Worker Demetrius was restored, with the diligence and mediation of the faithful King Volkašin and the trustworthy kingdom of Elena and their much-loved daughters and sons. In the days of the pious King Stephen and the pious King Volkašin, and ended with the pious and pious King Marko.

The church dedicated to holy warrior and megalomartyros St. Demetrius is located in the vicinity of the village of Markova Sušica.
Started in 1345 and completed after the battle at Marica in 1376/77 with striking features of its architecture and stylistic features of its painting, it is a masterpiece of the end of the Byzantine era.
