Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The time of restoration of the church is not known, nor is the founder. It is assumed that the church was built around 1337 by Bojko, the son of the unknown ruler Danica, and based on the mentioned inscription in the church of St. Nicholas in Ljuboten, where it is said that during this period Bojko was the lord of Matka.
According to the inscription above the entrance to the church, in 1497, a certain lady Milica found the church without a roof, covered it, painted it, built a porch and bought a vineyard for the monastery.
The church is built of stone and brick with a base of an inscribed cross inscribed in a square base with the dome resting on an octagonal tambour supported by massive pilasters with a three-sided apse.
The painting, which probably originates from 1497, is the work of a painter from the Ohrid school, it is placed in four zones: the Great Feasts, Christ's torments and sufferings, martyrs in medallions and figures of saints - given in full size.
In the 19th century, the monastery lodgings were built, and today a female monastic sisterhood is active.
